My Niece The Quilter

I am happy to share this picture of Allyson Ross' first quilt, made to welcome a friend's new baby.
Word is, the quilt was received with delight! I hope it's the first of many for you, Allyson!

Visiting The Northern Lights

This past weekend I had the pleasure of visiting the Northern Lights Quilt Guild in O'Leary, Prince Edward Island.  It was overcast and very grey when we crossed the Confederation Bridge;  sky and water were practically indistinguishable.
The Island, however, was beautifully clad in fall colours.

Our accommodations were as beautiful inside as they were outside.
Friday night's Trunk Show and Saturday's workshop were both held in a lovely room at the Community Centre. The guild is very fortunate to have such a terrific space, with attached kitchen facilities, and wi-fi in the building. We had a full class working on Maritime Beauties.
These pictures are of the beginning of the projects;  I *know* the students will send along pictures of their finished pieces! :)

Lillian brought her lovely little Featherweight, a perfect machine for foundation piecing.
It's always so fun to see the different colour combinations.  There were lots of batiks being used.
A couple of the students chose to use Christmas prints.

How gorgeous is this, with the blocks all laid out and ready to join.

It was a lovely trip, and I look forward to seeing pictures of the finished Beauties. A sincere thank you to the Northern Lights Guild for your welcoming hospitality!

A Slew Of Maritime Beauties

Maritime Beauty continues to be a very popular pattern.
Here is a sampling of pictures of Maritime Beauty for inspiration in choosing your colours. This is the original version...and still my favourite!
Hoffman snowflakes are fussy cut to fit the space.

Nancie Wiseman Attwater of CA used bright Kaffe Fasset prints.

I do apologize to the following makers for not adding their names here - please feel free to shout out if you see yours posted. They've all been identified in past posts.

(Chris McCarthy - this one of your cat still cracks me up!!! :)

This totally scrappy one of Gail's is one of my favourites.

This is a new picture in today from Myrna Allison;  you may recall Myrna recently shared her Roundabout Again .The directions for this placemat are included in the Maritime Beauty pattern, which Myrna made this weekend on retreat: Love the colours!
